Incorporate empathy into your engineering practice

I operate with the assumption that engineers and technical practitioners want to do social impact work and utilize their skills to make a difference. Oftentimes, the rigorous training we go through falls short of sharing resources and frameworks for ethical and empathetic practice. I founded engineer with empathy to emphasize the importance of historical context, sociopolitical landscapes, and the soft skills necessary for working thoughtfully with systematically marginalized, low-resource communities. Engineers and academics are more than just technical problem-solvers. While their expertise is essential, they must learn to approach their work with empathy, humility, and respect to make a lasting, positive impact.

Consultation Services & Tailored Training

Based on the need I’ve seen throughout my work in community-led development, I’ve opened up office hours for one-on-one consultation for folks looking to incorporate ethics and empathy into their work with their clients. Depending on each individual’s needs and past experiences, we’ll develop an actionable plan with achievable goals. I also offer a half-day workshop training option for groups that want to embark on this journey of self-reflection and improvement together.
